8 years of battery use and counting....

Yeah I got one of the earliest UK models, registered on 30 June 2014 (GX4h). Now done about 56k miles. Usually charged on a 16A home charger. I did use a rapid charger a few times in the early years, but I don't bother now - tbh I rarely use it for long trips , even our recent holiday to...

Will soon be cheaper to run my phev on petrol

I'd be surprised if you can get 14p per mile. Petrol is currently around £7 per gallon in the UK. This implies you are getting 50mpg, which I think extremely unlikely. For two 12.5 mile journeys, I would expect to get around 25-30mpg, or roughly double what you estimate (so in the region of...

    Outrageous deal, something wrong?

Yeah in the UK the early Outlander PHEVs were listed as 'Electric' under 'type of fuel'. DVLA then subsequently issued new V5s with 'Hybrid Electric' instead. My replacement was only issued in November 2020. So theoretically I could still have 2 'valid' V5s. Hopefully yours is just one who...

    What's the difference between the GX4, GX4h & GX4hs?

The original (May 2014) UK brochure can be found here: https://autocatalogarchive.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Mitsubishi-Outlander-PHEV-2014-UK.pdf The 3+ was added later and also has the electric heater

My wife hired a dual control car to teach our son https://www.arnoldclarkrental.com/dual-control-hire It's mainly a Scottish firm but presumably someone will do something similar in London...for twice the price I imagine

UK Buyers guide - Which to go for £10-£15k

You could look at Richi's site: https://www.richi.uk/p/mitsubishi-outlander-phev-faq.html Not sure you will find all the answers there, but there's a lot of useful stuff.

To consume old fuel, refuel 15L or more...

Well, I can't say for sure that it caused the engine to start, but it certainly didn't prevent it from starting, in my case.....

To consume old fuel, refuel 15L or more...

Yep - charging started yesterday after about 92/3 days (haven't actually worked it out!). Haven't charged it up for several weeks. Ironically I went to B&Q without it starting, then I thought "I'll just pull the IOD fuse", after which I put it in 'ready' to see what the computer said, and the...

To consume old fuel, refuel 15L or more...

Well, it might have been on the 94th day that the engine started  ! IIRC it starts straight away once you switch on. Let us know what happens tomorrrow!

    Fuel pressure ?

There are quite a few threads on this. I think this was the most recent: https://www.myoutlanderphev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2852

To consume old fuel, refuel 15L or more...

Same here ps44, except I've now got a battery mower as well! I believe disconnecting the 12V battery 're-starts' the clock, but I'm not certain as I've never had to do it yet.... :o EDIT: just seen this from earlier in the thread  : Open the bonnet. Remove the cover from the main fuse...

    Submerged PHEV

Doesn't look good for this PHEV (it's the blue car seen at the far right of the first clip, and in some stills further down....) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-51594107

    Questions before buying in Netherlands

Hi Alex I have a pdf of the Dutch 2014 model if it's any use (Business/Executive/Instyle/Instyle+). Pm me if you would like me to send it to you. I think it's too big to send as an attachment but I'm sure I can use wetransfer or some such...

    pre-heating vs pre-defrosting

As far as I recall, you can't have 'heat' in the morning and 'cool' in the afternoon - it's either on 'cool' or 'heat' (or 'defrost'). You can change it of course, but you have to change it each time you set it. You don't need to leave the heating on in the car for it to work. It works...

    pre-heating vs pre-defrosting

My car is a 2014 without the front windscreen heater, only vents for the hot air to come out. I'm pretty sure the rear screen doesn't come on during pre-heat though. I don't know if someone with a newer car could tell you.... I seem to remember the first winter I had it, I put it on 'defrost'...

    pre-heating vs pre-defrosting

I usually reckon on 10 minutes if the outside temp is between 0 and 10 degC and maybe 20 minutes for -5 to 0 degC. We very rarely get temps below -5 degC, but for your -15 to -20, I would think 30 minutes would be advisable! But of course you guys are probably used to it, so maybe 20 minutes...

    pre-heating vs pre-defrosting

For what it's worth, I find there's not much difference, although in my experience the 'pre-defrost' tends to set the car alarm off more often than the 'pre-heat', so I usually use the latter. I have a 2014 car, they may have sorted the issue on later versions.

Strong smell from PHEV While connected to Level 1 Charger

On the other hand, new PHEVs are well known for emitting a strange smell after the engine starts, particularly when new. Do you live at the top of a hill? Could the engine have started fairly recently when you ran out of charge as you approached the house/garage? We do, and I remember...

Possible new owner - few questions

Ooh, looks like they're just changing over from the old Juro/4h/4hs etc models to a new system. I expect in a few days they will have the brochure to match, but for now, well, it doesn't look as if you can tell.... The old 3h didn't have the electric pre-heater but Juro upwards (i.e. all the...
