    A Running Costs Summary

You have a "better" split of running on electric vs fuel than I do. Being in the American West, I often am driving farther than the battery range and in colder weather. I've used 2 miles per kWh for my calculations but I think even that might be too high. Using 2 miles/kWh for electric only...

    A Running Costs Summary

2018 PHEV 45,021 miles 961.5 gals of gasoline 8840 kWh of electricity Figure it however you want. For my situation with excess solar panel capacity, the car makes sense.

How to use 110 V AC outlet without headlights on

Mellobob you nailed it! My 2018 GT works the same. I've been through that manual numerous times and never made the connection. Thanks, my power outage strategy just got better!

How to use 110 V AC outlet without headlights on

I haven't figured it out. Thought about pulling the fuse for head lights, but there are 6 of those! Has anyone figured out how to use their GT 110V capability for useful power supply?

    Holder for sunglasses

This is what I decided to use. Works pretty well to hold glasses, hand sanitizer, phone, etc. Seems to stay in place. Don't cover up buttons completely, but does make it hard to see "Save" button. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G3QLH9B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Heat

If you only live a couple miles from work, I would never use the ICE if you can help it. When using heat, you might cut the range on EV to only half of what it is in warm weather, but that will still be sufficient to get you home and back. I find if you don't push the EV buttom immediately...

How to use 110 V AC outlet without headlights on

I have a 2018 Outlander PHEV GT. I bought the GT because of the 110 V outlets. It appears to me they are pretty useless. The only way you can use them is with the car's power switch on. You can't turn the headlights off either. Or at least I haven't figured it out. Am I missing something...

    ICE running while in EV

That makes sense to me. I'm raising the question because it did not appear to do this for the first couple of months of ownership, but now it does. With our use pattern, I could easily go a few weeks without ever using the entire battery charge. Typical day might be 10 or 15 miles of use...

    ICE running while in EV

My last fuel up was on July 29th so that doesn't seem too long ago.

    ICE running while in EV

Recently my 2018 PHEV has begun to run the ICE when the battery charge is nearly full. This is starting out in normal mode. Switching to EV does not stop the engine from running. I am not accelerating rapidly and am driving under 50 MPH. The weather is warm here now. Is there something...

    US Outlander PHEV Owner Check-In

Just got my 2018 Outlander PHEV GT in Brown with Brown interior. Liking it so far. I waited for the Ford Escape PHEV to be revealed, but turns out it will only be offered in front wheel drive and I definitely wanted AWD. Maybe the Jeep Compass and VW Atlas will offer PHEV, but I got tired...

    Holder for sunglasses

I've got the 2018 GT model with sunroof, so no handy sunglasses holder in roof. How have others solved this? I'm aware of the clips for sunvisors, but I'd like to know if there are any other more brilliant solutions before I settle for those. I saw one that goes in place of the grab handle...

    Charging strategy and tools

Thanks for the responses. I'm glad to hear I don't need to think about getting up in the middle of the night to unplug to prevent overcharging. Our use pattern will probably seldom result in anything other than charging overnight. Is there any logic to use 8A vs 12A charging mode? If the...

    Charging strategy and tools

I'm trying to figure out a charging strategy. We typically might drive 15 to 20 miles per day. I've been reading that PHEV battery will probably last longer if charging is done between 20% and 80% State of Charge. It looks to me like the car already stops using battery somewhere above 0%...

    Performance on Road Trips

So I bought the 2018 Outlander PHEV GT. I had a 1700 mile road trip home from where I bought it. I did no charging on this trip. It was all interstate highway in the US West with some mountain sections. I normally was driving at 75-80 mph (130 km/hr) on cruise control with the mode set to...

    Performance on Road Trips

I'm getting close to buying a 2018 GT. I've gotten to test drive one and was satisfied with the ride. One concern I have is how will this vehicle perform on Western US road trips. Most of my driving will be in EV around town, but I do also take trips where the speed limit is 80 mph and I want...
