Mitsubishi PHEV 2019 Australian runout - should I buy it??

I also bought one of the runout ES ADAS cars in South Australia, and the battery seems fine. My only disappointment was I didn't realise that this model didn't come with the electric cabin heater, so it wants to start the engine whenever it's cold outside, but other than that it's great. You...

    Charging at public stations issue

For the type 2 station it could be your cable - I have a charging cable that seems to have failed, as I can charge fine at the same stations with a different cable. With the Jolt station it's possible it just wasn't commissioned yet, as these are very new.

Australia 2020 model no electric cabin heater

I haven't tried asking the dealer about a retro-fit - as greendwarf says, I got the sense from some other threads on this that others have looked into it and it's just not do-able. So I have resigned myself to burning some fuel for cabin heating, and I think I'm slowly getting over it :-) It...

My electric generator stops in 10 seconds

I'm with ThudnBlundr - my guess would be the 12V battery is shot and this is causing the issue. Perhaps the effort of starting the ICE when it does kick in is enough to drop the voltage on the 12V battery to a critically low level and this is what's causing the weird behaviour after that with...

Australia 2020 model no electric cabin heater

So I just upgraded from a 2017 PHEV to a new 2020 ES ADAS model in Australia. I like the noticeable improvement in battery range and some of the other minor tweaks compared to the 2017 ... BUT... I only realised after buying the car that they have removed the electric cabin heater from the base...

New to PHEVs. Just purchased a second hand 2018 Outlander

Congrats on the PHEV and welcome to the forums! You'll find plenty of advice on here on how to get the most out of the vehicle, but just a couple of quick thoughts on the questions you raised: - air conditioning doesn't use much energy so I'd definitely keep it on rather than swelter. Cabin...

    Tethered Type 2 charging

I've not tried this but it looks like the connectors on normal type 2 cables are deliberately designed so that the cables cannot be connected in series, so it looks like you will need the separate adapter if you want to connect to a wired type 2 EVSE. See...

    Achieving ultimate fuel consumption

Agree with the above about coasting where possible with B0. The only other thing I would suggest is that forcing the ICE to run with 'save' mode just to warm the cabin is generally not necessary. Crank the heater if you need to and the car will start the engine itself if required and run it...

    New owner, home charging

You can definitely get by just with the supplied charging cable. We bought a basic 15A charger to use at home and we find the faster charging rate helps on days when we make more than one trip, which is most weekend days; if you want to maximise EV usage then the faster charger gives more...

Charging Use Spike - 326 kw in one hour!

As others have pointed out, it's physically impossible for you to have consumed that amount of energy. Your ChargedEV charger is at most 7kW (32A) - possibly less, depending on your wiring. Assuming it's wired for the full 7kW, the most it could possibly deliver in an hour is 7kWh (although not...

    Heating problems

@Penjurva, glad you got yours fixed - enjoy the warmth! :)

Upgrade to a 15 amp charger (Australia)

I own and use the charger you linked and it's been working well - although we've only had it for about 4 months so far. I'm in South Australia and had an electrician install two 15A outlets in the carport, one connected to my off-peak controlled load and one to the regular house load. The...

    Heater question

As stated above, I believe that in some countries at least the basic 2014 models didn't have an electric heater, so the car relied on the ICE for heating - so the first thing is to confirm whether your car has an electric heater or not. In my case, when I bought mine (used), which *does* have...

D-Method on really stubborn cars or the A-Method :)

Watching this thread with interest, although I'm not yet brave enough to try any of these methods on mine... Heydr's last post caught my attention - charging 9.6kWh sounds like a lot! It's 80% of the theoretical max capacity of the 12kWh battery when new. This suggests that the BMU reset is...

    Odd charging behaviour

There's a guy who posts a lot on youtube with a channel called Unplugged EV and I recall in one of his videos he referred to charging being interrupted by some kind of battery cell balancing cycle.

Retro fit or enable WiFi / app?

Thanks Richr - that's a little disappointing... guess I can live without it then.

    Heating problems

Just an update on mine - it took the dealer two days to diagnose the problem, which didn't turn out to be the filter after all - it was a loose electrical connection to the water pump. Nice to have a warm car at last!

A/C auto mode and snowflake symbol...

But apart from lubricating the seals, and the de-fogging, and the reduced sweatiness in summer - what has the air conditioner ever done for us?

A/C auto mode and snowflake symbol...

...understood - although I have to say that if I was Mitsubishi and I wanted a symbol that meant "not cooling" I would probably not have gone with a snowflake :-) Joking aside, thanks richr and jaapv for the quick and very helpful replies - much appreciated. I note that if you hit the...
