Does the PHEV Have a heat pump 2019-2020

The new Outlander 4th generation (2022 in some markets, 2023+ in North America), has a heat pump yes. I've read that it's rather weak and doesn't work below -15C though. Older generation PHEVS do not have one. They use an electric PTC heater if equipped.

Was ICE cold weather start formula reprogrammed?

I don't have any hard evidence but I think that as the battery degrades it can tend to come on more frequently in these cases. I have a 2018 with 46000km on it (CDN model) and most of the time if I start the car with EV priority button pressed the engine does not come on. But _sometimes_ it...

    Outlander PHEV Sub-Zero Operation Question

I'm not defending the Dealers but I think the salespeople didn't know about severe cold issues either. It appears like the car was expected to have a battery heater (as it was listed in the specs), but it actually doesn't. Only Mitsubishi would know what internal communications were made to...

    Outlander PHEV Sub-Zero Operation Question

As far as I am aware a block heater or engine heater, or even oil pan heater will not help if your car is too cold to start. It's not the engine, it's the battery that is too cold. The main battery (not 12V) is used to start the engine. So if your car is too cold to start and you are in that...

    Outlander PHEV Sub-Zero Operation Question

I don't think there is much you could do. You could charge the car, that may warm the battery up a bit. Driving will also. In the manual it states that you should wait for the temperatures to rise if the battery is too cold to start. Not a good answer, I know. I think at those temps you...

Should I upgrade my 2018 PHEV?

Honestly I wouldn't. You may get 2x the range (or close to it), but with the 2023+ there are more scenarios where the engine may come on. There is no engine heater in the 2023+, there is only the heat pump, and that does seems to need more assistance from the ICE in colder temps, thus...

Help! 2018 Outlander PHEV nits and bugs...

Agree with everything you said, it's a quirky vehicle...a tip: To prevent the engine from coming on (especially in colder weather) press the EV Priority button at the same time as you turn on the car. That is: Hold down the EV Button, put your foot on the brake pedal, then turn on the car...

BMU Reset for 2018 Canadian PHEV. Alternate method idea

Dude that is pretty bad. When I got my 2018 it had 37.1 Ah, and it quickly went down to 36.something. I got the MUT-III Se software, the driver, and the cable and now I can reset it myself anytime using the latest information on the procedures. I also did a DBCam and it came back at 37.4 Ah...
