How long to charge 12V Aux battery using Traction battery ONLY?

The automatic Aux charging only takes place if the wifi is enabled - the wifi module drains the Aux battery, so the car adopts this strategy. If you disable the WiFi, your Aux Battery might get depleted after a long period without use, even with full traction battery - Ask me how I know it! 😂

    steep hill vehicle stall

You are making a common mistake: confusing Power with Torque. What matters in this situation is only the Torque - the force applied to the wheels. Indeed the power will be very very low, but the Torque will be the maximum and it is limited by the current output of the inverter and, of course...

Is this suited for me? SH Outlander PHEV

Hi, AurelianR. I will try to answer your questions: 1- About the battery, you can ask for a "Battery State of Health".. The internal computer that manages the battery (BMU) has this number and the dealer just need to read it. You can even do that with a ODB2 adapter. This "State of Health"...

2018 Outlander SEL PHEV vs 2016 Ford Energi C-Max. Opinion?

A 4WD car/SUV is a lot more stable than a 2WD at the same conditions. I don't know C-Max, but comparing specs, the Outlander surpass it in all specs. Cheers. Alex.

    Buying used Outlander-advise required

Sorry, I was not clear. The battery has a warranty of 160.000 Km or 8 years, what comes first. They will replace the battery under warranty if the SoH got bellow 70% if the car no more than 160.000Km and no more than 8 years. Cheers. Alex.

    Buying used Outlander-advise required

As far as I know the warranty applies for a battery with SoH < 70%. This report was issued by the authorized dealer when I bought my car (from them). They told me they make this report and input the data "in the system" for every maintenance, so Mitsubishi-NL has a tracking of batteries life...

    Buying used Outlander-advise required

You should expect something like this. The important information here, regarding the battery, is the "Battery Current Capacity". In this example it is 32.9Ah. The accepted nominal battery capacity is 38Ah, so in this case the battery has a SoH of 86.5% (32.9/38). Cheers. Alex.

Flattened auxiliary battery - any consequences?

There are commercial solutions available for this. Plug and play. LiFePO4 replacement for acid lead batteries: http://www.go-aliant.com/lithium/index.php/products-it/batterie-litio-monoblocco/aliant-serie-ea A friend of mine uses one of this to replace its motorcycle one. Very happy with the...

    Charging under lockdown

I'm trying to understand how this post turned out to be about the 12V battery.. Anyway, absolutely under no circumstances a Wifi module will take 2W of power. A regular wifi module with a 32 bits microcontroller will draw around 200mW in idle with the WiFi powered on.

    Charging under lockdown

The information is correct. The best voltage to store Li-Ion cells is 3.86V. Of course you don't need to be spot on this. Just avoid full charged or discharged battery. If you do not plan to use the car for a few days (that is the target customer for the email you received), charge/discharge the...

    MY19 SoH

The BMU does not limit it. You can perform this test: 1) full charge the battery. The cells will be at 4.1V. 2) drive until the battery got "depleted" (30% SoC) and the engine kicks in. Check the battery voltage: it will be around 3.65V/cell. Unless the BMU is lying/mocking the voltage for...

D-Method on really stubborn cars or the A-Method :)

I cannot see how a BMU reset can overcome the Li-Ion physics. The BMU sees the battery full at 4.1V/cell and "take it easy on me" at 3.7V/cell.. The it learns the SoC between this two values tracing a curve of charge and discharge energy. That is it. Reseting the BMU will only force it to think...

Close Windows / Sunroof when locking car

I did read some topics about this issue with no conclusion at all, so I'm trying to check if someone came up with a solution for this. I'm a proud owner of an Instyle+ 2016 and this is my most "luxurious" car I have ever had. But it lacks some simple features that annoys me a lot. Closing...

    MY19 SoH

I'm new on the PHEV, got mine 20 days ago. It is an amazing car. It is a 2016 Instyle model, 103k in the clock and has 86% SoH. I think this is quite OK SoH for such age but not for an 1 year old car. Is this dealer an "authorized dealer"? If yes, run from it. About the battery. As an...

    PHEV Watchdog for all.

Is there a way to display the instantaneous motors power ? The closer I get from this was calculating the power multiplying the generic battery current by battery voltage. Displaying the A/C motor power would be nice as well. Cheers.. Alex.

    Long term charging

This is the main reason I got an PHEV instead of a pure EV car. For local trips in the city you are able to make only EV.. but if you plan a travel with family, you don't need to worry about finding charging stations. Even here in Europe - which I think there is the majority of charging station...

    Long term charging

For sure it has overcharge protection. But you are confusing the matters. Keeping the battery topped is not overcharging.. Overcharge would be charging more then the "top" limit (usually 4.2V/cell). But, keeping a Li-Ion battery topped (100% charged) for a long time - and this apply for any...

    Long term charging

The main problem is not the charger itself or any safety risk. But LI-Ion batteries usually don't like to be kept topped for a long time. So if you do not plan to use the car for some time (I would say more than one week), it is better to let the battery about 3/4 full. This care will increase...

English user manual for PHEV 2016 Instyle+

Thanks richr I didn't find the dutch manual in the dutch website so I didn't expect to find the manual in the UK website either. As reference, the link is: https://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.uk/owners/manuals I expect the UK versions to be similar to NL versions, although they have differente...
