    Charging cable, weatherproof?

FWIW, I have left my charging cable and brick outside exposed to the elements and the afternoon sun since the start of the winter in Ottawa. So far no issues.

The fuel consumption of the PHEV and how I decrease it.

The outlander PHEV is not great on the highway due to the lack of a transmission that optimizes gear ratios. However, it more than makes up for the meh highway fuel economy with the stellar urban fuel economy.

    Default regen braking

Setting regen to B3 and above turns on the ICE only if the battery is above 60%, but in this case the ICE turns on only to activate the generator, so the extra charge from B3+ that the battery can't "absorb" at this charge level powers the generator as waste energy.

I'm guessing he meant the battery is "draining" not raining.

False Advertising - Class Action Lawsuit

Your experiences are unfortunate and I can see the frustration from it. All I have to say is that I have a different experience through an Ottawa winter. It operated in EV mode most of the time. I think I averaged 5.8L/100km which is about 42 MPG in the winter on winter tires that includes a...

Circumstances when the ICE comes on?

When the ICE runs in these situations it's not using a lot of gas and some needs to be run from time to time anyways. Don't sweat it.

Circumstances when the ICE comes on?

Right, but I think ICE indirectly provides heat by charging the drive battery.

    ICE on in 2023

Good question on whether when the ICE is shown as being turned on keeps the engine warm. The way I read the manual in anything above B2 when the drive battery has lots of charge, the ICE is driven by the generator, so the display shows the ICE is on. It may not be turning revolutions to be kept...

    ICE on in 2023

I interpret the wording in the manual to be near zero fuel is being consumed in this instance: "If the shift lever position “B” (Regenerative Brake) is selected when the drive battery is near full charge, or when it becomes hot or cold, the engine is driven by the generator to consume...

    Disable keyless entry ?

A steering wheel lock is my goto for overnight theft prevention. The idea is its enough of a PITA to deal with that they move on to easier pickings.

Thanks for the pics! The driver's side is terrible but the passenger side not too bad.

2023 PHEV - Roof Rack / Cross Bars

Hmm, the ones from the dealer are $530. Surely being $30 over your limit is worth the convenience?

Fuel economy at highway speed phev vs ice model

Interesting. The 2023 PHEV certainly can and does switch to EV only at highway speeds. Even in Save mode and when running as a parallel hybrid, it does switch back and forth to 100% electric motors. So from a real-world experience, the distance covered in EV mode even at highway speeds counts as...

    Which cable ??

I bought an extra level 1 EVSE (used on ebay is the cheapest I found) to plug into a regular wall outlet when I am away from home. That way I can leave one at home and one in the car for convenience. The one in the car I plug into friend and family houses that are further away. I even found a...

    Which cable ??

You can't buy a Chademo cable. The other end is connected to a 350V supply, which is a level 3 charger and is beyond what most household or commercial outlets can supply. You are limited to using what Chademo chargers exist out there to get you 16kW of charge within 38 minutes. But in the...
