    wifi problems

Possibly OT or possibly not: has anyone in Australia had any progress with WiFi or app on the 2023 model? The "instructions" aren't helpful because the start button in the car doesn't have a light... and that's just for starters (pun intended, but still not happy). The dealer told me "not...

Return to EV mode after gas engine starts

"Internal Combustion Engine", but in this case: it can be pretty entertaining.

Return to EV mode after gas engine starts

I've had some of these experiences and not others. 2023 Nov PHEV. We live at the bottom of a steep hill that extends about 200m directly in front of our garage... so pretty much the first thing that happens to the car is a steep climb. If I'm very careful on the accelerator, the car will do...

    Lifetime Fuel Consumption

I cheated... I simply haven't reset Trip 1 since I took delivery of the car (last November). I reset Trip 2 everytime I fill the tank. So far the two readings are pretty similar.

Level 2 charger at home, anybody? What are your thought?

Wet-finger-in-air-calculations: my 2023 with 20kW battery was taking 9.5 hours to charge from empty on the Level 1 charger, with initial (measured) 2400W (10A) draw. That probably drops a bit as the charge nears completion because, if it were straight-line linear until full, 2400W into a 20kW...

Level 2 charger at home, anybody? What are your thought?

Last year when our new 2023 Outlander was on the water from Japan I had many discussions about chargers with the dealer. Their lack of advice went beyond clueless - there was no product that they could or would sell, despite having a massive Kia charger on display. I did a lot of negotiating...

Very happy to read. Could you point me/us to a suitable reference?

    2023 PHEV Outlander

Freezing is not a problem we'd ever have where I live. But I didn't know that ethanol degrades quickly. Does that just reduce the octane level, or does something worse happen?

    2023 PHEV Outlander

Interesting on choice of fuel. I asked and was told that E10 (pretty much the cheapest fuel you can buy in Australia) was just fine. Because I do mostly rural driving (and not a lot of that), I consume around a tank every month or two. It would be hard to work out whether another type of fuel...

UEFA football betting? Not quite PHEV!

    Extension cable required

I'm really surprised that a UK plug, rated at more than 10A gets anything like hot when the device on the end of it is drawing only 10A. I have no recollection of my Australian 3-pin plug (flat blades) getting particularly warm when run for an extended period. For a while I was using a pretty...

On Board Navigation Map: TomTom Update

In my case the missing/wrong data would be over 40 years old. I think that's enough time for anyone to get it right.

On Board Navigation Map: TomTom Update

Hi, Jim. My Outlandish arrived in November, and I too updated the maps (for Australia). And possibly essential if you drive (as I do) in areas where there's little or no phone reception. And that would be a really good question because the performance of the nav system in my car is so bad...

GEEKY - My Outlander Exceed PHEV

The massage is more about your back than... 😂 I used the massager sparingly on the long trip. I suspect if I was doing a massively longer run (endless days of many more hours per day) that the massager would be more used. And, to be fair, I tend to not use airline seat massagers either...

GEEKY - My Outlander Exceed PHEV

My bad - I meant the Tourer. We went for that version - I rather got used to the orange, and Mrs TheMaiz actually liked it. I'm exceptionally impressed with the seats in the Tourer - on my last trip from Sydney to Queensland I drove for over five hours without stopping, and still felt fantastic.

GEEKY - My Outlander Exceed PHEV

Impressive collection of photos. Question though - with all that pimping, why didn't you go for the Exceed?

Outlander Phev In-Depth Observations - Mike Mas

Mike @LowOnCash I should also have agreed that this was a hugely helpful thread and your article is something that every potential or newb owner should digest. Expert opinion is always valuable. I won't ever have the problems with extreme cold that NA owners have, but that's not the only...

Cruise Control - Stop and Go with 2023 PHEV

And Which turned out to be what happend. BTW: my Outlander is a 2023 which I guess would have Mi-Pilot. After careful testing of ACC in traffic, I can now confirm that * if the car in front stops (eg: at a light or intersection) then my car comes to a stop at a respectful distance * if the...

Cruise Control - Stop and Go with 2023 PHEV

My experience aligns with BobK's - the message (either in the dash or in the heads-up display) is something like "select resume to continue" and resume is flip-up on the cruise control. The car will sit for ever with brakes applied until resume is triggered, and does not creep - but I most...

Outlander Phev In-Depth Observations - Mike Mas

I could. But after the manufacturer and dealer have accepted $75k for a piece of equipment that is at the top of their range, my belief (and I'm pretty sure consumer law) takes the view that an unusable nav system would be deemed unfit for purpose. A nav system should be able to find 99.99%...
