    Technical graphs and images

Thanks for the appreciation folks of the time consuming effort I put into this thread. Hope others or myself can add to it over time especially about the new 2023 model. I did ask my local dealer for a copy of the training CD for their service staff that provided some of the material I provide...

Do not be scared of using that charge button.

From memory below 13% it shuts down the car to allow for starting the ICE when petrol is added ie to get below 13% usually no petrol in PHEV left. To stop you getting to 13% in the PHEV it does some special events like switching from parallel mode to series mode if series can provide more...

    Battery mileage

My pleasure. It's not more accurate. The OBD2 scanner and app will show what currently the "guessing" BMU in the PHEV thinks the capacity of the EV battery is and also puts it into an expression called SOH (see my post above). Now the DBCAM service from Mitsubishi recalibrates that...

    Battery mileage

Ok I will try to keep this simple for now but no matter what anyone says the BMU (Battery Management Unit) on the PHEV is just guessing the capacity of the EV drive battery on the PHEV at any particular time. So what does this mean? The PHEV never under normal circumstances empties the EV...

    New Battery 2023

Ok missed this message till now but according to this video I saw last year they are using a different chemistry and manufacturer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07jQWOqD4NI See about 1:56 into that video. It seem their alliance with Nissan has pushed across into the PHEV I think and done...

Fuel economy at highway speed phev vs ice model

Ok these figures that are being thrown around for the Outlander are not what we see in Australia. 8.1lts/100kms as per Mitsi's figures for standard Outlander compared to approx 6.7lts/100kms for the Phev as seen in this video on a trip from Adelaide to Melbourne of about 800kms) at...

The fuel consumption of the PHEV and how I decrease it.

Your welcome. :) But I should have said  : IMO: 1. Around town speeds ,where the PHEV would be in series mode if the petrol motor was running, as much as possible. 2. At highway speeds where the PHEV would be in parallel mode if the petrol motor was running . 3. At highway speeds where...

New Phev specs released it seems

Ok want to talk about my test drive of the new PHEV I did some months ago. Now I stated earlier in this thread : The new model I drove did "NOT" have one pedal driving as seen on some EVs so I was wrong about that. Still need to bring the PHEV to a complete halt with the brake peddle even...

8 years of battery use and counting....

Got my 1st PHEV in early April 2014 (new) which is the earliest you could buy one here, only the Japanese and then Dutch could get one earlier from memory, and yes the drive battery was replaced under warranty. The heat here has pushed degradation more than most countries I think, even though...

Cold Weather Performance - North American 2023

Ok, I will wade in here with my thoughts on the subject. From videos online I have seen and even from the Tesla's Winter Driving Tips https://www.tesla.com/support/winter-driving-tips where it states: "A blue snowflake icon may appear on your touchscreen if your car battery is too cold to...

Cold Weather Performance - North American 2023

Thanks, off topic but did you get to try Mi-Pilot and if you did how's it compare to Autopilot on Tesla as I think I see you have a Model Y as well ?

Cold Weather Performance - North American 2023

  Snows in winter on The Great Dividing Range just west of where I live where I have a property. Been there done that and stayed to look around with skiing on the snow fields further south and have dealt with what we call black ice, using chains etc. You need to do a little research...

Cold Weather Performance - North American 2023

Ok thanks, wow heat pump and Mi-pilot there. Us "colonials" down-under get the raw end of the deal from Mitsubishi. :x

Cold Weather Performance - North American 2023

Heat pump? You sure the new model has a heat pump? Our specs here show no mention of it from what I have seen.

Comparing the PHEV with a Tesla Model Y.

I already considered those weight variables to try and explain the Model Y's efficiency. Sorry but my PHEV is 28kgs lighter ie my Model Y is heavier. I don't think we should be letting Mitsubishi's willingness to shape a car like a "brick" be an excuse. Do you?

Comparing the PHEV with a Tesla Model Y.

Ok did the same loop at the same time of day with the Model Y but had some unexpected heavy rain (wipers maxed out) 1/2 way through. At end of drive saw 10.7kW/100kms but was seeing high 9 low 10 till the rain hit. As much as I love my PHEV I have to admit the Tesla's better efficiency is...

Comparing the PHEV with a Tesla Model Y.

Just got my 2019 PHEV drive battery recalibrated (DBCAM) then took it for drive around town to recalibrate the GOM, all 60kph and lower zones, and checked the efficiency and saw 15kW/100kms. The Tesla Model Y can achieve that doing 100kph on the freeway. Amazing. :o But will run the same loop...

Comparing the PHEV with a Tesla Model Y.

Glad you are happy with your purchase. Wife and 2 adult sons and I tested the new model PHEV and the Model Y on the same day and after we all drove them we all considered the Model Y to be better for us. That smooth and quiet, and the acceleration, and like you said "fun drive" of the Model Y...

Comparing the PHEV with a Tesla Model Y.

For a new Exceed model PHEV, same as my old models, the Model Y was slightly dearer (approx $500) for me when considering on road costs.

Comparing the PHEV with a Tesla Model Y.

Your welcome. Ok if I was in the same situation as you and looking at maybe replacing 2 cars with 1 I would probably sell the PHEV and keep the Tesla. Costs of ownership would probably push it that way for me plus 2nd hand values for Teslas or even EV cars in general, at least here in...
