    Strange noise

no, you are right, ignore me  and from sticking my head under the car, it also looks to have rubber mounts like engine block mounts? fan would have to be _really_ loud to couple through those. so, yeah, Arnar, ignore me

    Strange noise

Yes, that's going to come on and off independent of vehicle speed, but only while the car is "on" Arnar : battery box is located roughly just behind the rear seats - in fact if Yoran's theory is correct, if you flip forward the bottom of the back seats (so you can fold them flat) but leave the...

Secular and cycle deterioration as seen in the MUT-III.

yeah, but change the search... looots of interesting but pretty new research. for instance: Aging mechanisms of Li-ion batteries : seen from an experimental and simulation point of view which has a look at all the chemistries and the state the art; lots of tidbits (go for the summary at the end...

    Modding the PHEV

You don't need more capacity, you need a higher discharge rate which is technically more problematic than just adding capacity. You probably also need to improve the cabling and power transmission electronics. Having said that, somewhere towards the end of my PHEVs life I look forward to...

Why does the PHEV stop charging for 5 minutes?

what does the dot spacing on the graph indicate? (the double dots starting at about 9:50 in your graph)

Secular and cycle deterioration as seen in the MUT-III.

not sure if it's what you meant but: so I'd guess: age related capacity deterioration.

wow, and I thought I got a good deal with 17000km! enjoy!

    Strange noise

Is it only happening when the vehicle is in motion? (seems so from video) Sounds like a fan rubbing on something but it looks a bit cold there for the engine fan to be on :D (and no reason for the cabin fans to start and stop?) can you tell where in the vehicle the sound is coming from?

    12V Aux Battery Charging

A non-invasive current measurement device (clamp on hall effect?) would be really handy to deploy around your car... something with data logging would be great to try and pin down when it happens. If that's not something you are familiar with, it's time to get friendly with a local electronics...

    12V Aux Battery Charging

I'm maybe forgetting the details but from memory the 2PM thing only happens when the WiFi is (a) installed and (b) enabled. I did see (or rather, hear and was very suprised by) by the 2PM charging thing early on when I actually used the WiFi and the phone app. Now I don't use those and because...

Did Mitsu blunder by not putting 16Kwh battery in US version

with my programmer hat on, I would say don't read too much into that. 16 is a magic number for other reasons. that said, I'd be happy with an extra 4kWh... there was the (Polish?) guy who repacked his to 20kWh and the Scottish guy who dismantled one so it's physically possible to do. Maybe one...

I love going incognito in the PHEV.

The small car thing exists, for sure. My last was an i30 hatch, and people would overtake me (doing 110+) only to pull in and slow down again. They just hated being behind a small car. (oh, and ask a truck driver about it... I personally have a thing about getting stuck behind a truck so I...

Complaining about fuel consumption.I just don't get it.

Don't get me wrong, it's pretty enough for an "SUV", but looks aren't really why I bought it... oh, and the Cd for the Outlander is supposed to be around 0.33 according to Wikipedia; for comparison https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automobile_drag_coefficient#Typical_drag_coefficients

Complaining about fuel consumption.I just don't get it.

Well, I'm right there with you; pretty often do a 2 hour 40 min drive of around 220km with city traffic either end for which I usually come in around 6.7 or 6.9 l/100km. Yesterday I got my _worst_ ever on that trip of 8.5 l/100km, but it was 38 degrees C, I got stuck at roadworks for half an...

    Australians down under

Long time lurker, first time poster - finally an appropriate place to chime in... I got my 2014.5 Aspire with 17600km on the clock for just under $34k about this time last year, done another 17000km on it since. I second the comment about ACC, it's really really useful and once you understand...
