This is what I do, if i remember - but all my other cars have had this feature so I do forget sometimes.

I don't like the idea of people getting into the boot in standing traffic.

Starting to think that perhaps its down to the build quality and that the locks wont cope with it

I would recommend to keep pushing with this one. I personally have been onto Mitsubishi now for months about this issue and they are slowly starting to do tests. They have sent a bonnet from a UK car to Japan to do some drop tests to check the paint. mine is now that bad you can flick paint off...

I am running the app with IOS 10 without any problems.
