Physical EV MODE button for 2012-2016 PHEV

I have added a physical button EV MODE (with "battery" symbol) for 2012-2016 PHEV (as from 2017 such button exists). Older PHEV Box versions can be upgraded to this version too. Now there is much more torque in EV MODE, so starting from lights is easier. ;) https://youtu.be/mVyEr-geVRc

Video: EVSE with grid monitoring vs 2000W water kettle. Will

A test of Grid Monitoring used in Accelev https://www.facebook.com/EVSEChargerAccelev/ Car loads with a max speed of 16A, as the breaker is 16A. Then I start a water kettle (2000W) - once with Grid Monitoring at charger is on the second time - off. I restart charging, as charger needs 1 minute...

My 2-phase charger is ready. 3.8 kW for PHEV, 4.8 kW Tesla

huh, after crowdfunding by IndieGoGo I have finished 2-phase charger for Type1 cars. It works like this: it uses 2 phases with equal loading to deliver Type1 (single phase) power. It controls load on both phases, if you start something on any of them - it reduces power. See how it charges Tesla...

    61 km EV range? Strange.

Today after night charging I have seen this on the dash: https://www.dropbox.com/s/e5fwwieblx7tvdv/61_km_range_Outlander_PHEV.jpg Usually I see 50-52 km and without any reason PHEV have presented 61 km... After 8 km of driving, it sunk to 51 and rapidly it switched it to 44 km, what is more...

    Dual-phase 2x faster home charger - ready

This is my last project - 4.4-4.8kW 2-phase Type1 portable electric car charger at your home - without special 32A power lines... It uses 3phase power connection to generate one "superphase" and charge Type1 cars (PHEV, Leaf). 2 phases are loaded equally. It also has a special mode for battery...

First test of 19,5 kWh battery in PHEV

I have built prototype of higher capacity battery, by replacing factory modules of 8xL40 with my modules, built from chinese cheap cells (as this is prototype, I wanted to test if it works) of 19,5 kWh total installed inside factory battery (I have spare one - thx Anko :) ). Factory BMS handles...

PHEV EV range in mountains - 58,4 km. Timelapse video.

I have free time last afternoon, so I decided to do timelapse video to show range of PHEV. I live in mountains (this does not help with range) but still not bad - real EV range of Outlander PHEV can be 58,4 km (in mountains) and 60+ in flat area. This depends on driving style (moderate driving...

    Let's stop ICEheat, when cold...

As you know some of my ideas/developments from "Let's go pure EV" thread, I promised to focus on gasoline engine heating function control. I'm still not sure about exact algorythm of ICE start (and I cannot read AC-control ecu to check the algo just in code), I decided to check it step by step...

    Dyno graph of Outlander PHEV

Nm, HP vs speed in kmh, engine+motor power (not on wheels). I have repeated measurement 3 times, battery full. No differences. Exact same graph (sometimes slightly earlier switches to parallel hybrid).

    Increasing capacity of batteries.

I found (by internal dimensions) that theoretically as the height and length of LEV40 and LEV50 is same, but LEV50 is a bit thicker (LEV50 has thicker cells inside, LEV40 - thinner) I think they can be replaced, if black plastic frames are ommited. We will try to do so, but not with LEV50...
