    ICE running while in EV

This can happen if the car needs to deliver more energy than the battery can supply for acceleration or hill climbing. After engaging EV the ICE may still start for a while until the car is happy with the situation. The algorithm is fast enough but it has some heavy hysteresis built into the...

ICE turning on while in EV mode with over 50% battery.

If you think back carefully I pretty sure you'll find you last added fuel 90 days ago. Add 15 litres (about 3.5 gallons, depending which version of Imperial units you might use) and the ICE will stop running. The display would have given you the reason why the ICE started and you can toggle back...

    Engine On During EV Mode

Have you added at least 15 Litres of fuel in the last 90 days? If not, the ICE will start up to try and use it.

Charge function just came on and can't turn it off

Don't panic. You need to add a minimum of 15 Litres of petrol/gas. The car thinks the fuel is starting to get stale as non has been added for 90 days and so will run the engine to turn this into electricity for the traction battery. The PHEV is a stupidly intelligent car!

    Evse not working

Hi Hyper. The usual fault is a break in the mains input cable side of the EVSE. This is often cause is hanging the EVSE by the plug rather than the lanyard. Most folks find that wiggling the input cable brings it back to life for a while. Once you have it apart you can usually feel where the...

    Serial/Parallel Switch Speed

That's a little odd Johny. You're right to keep the car in Charge mode if you're towing anything substantial but I'm surprised the traction battery becomes depleted. However, would you not be better off trying to keep above 70 kph on the hills to make the ICE the primary mover if this is...

    Charger dead

This is fairly common and is easily fixed. The mains input cable breaks down internally close to the charger. You can open it up and replace the cable but the charger does have sealant on the cover and needs to removed carefully. It takes a little time but can be done.

    Ridiculous feathering of front tyres

The feathering is just a symptom of the tracking needing adjustment. Your dealer is a lazy idiot. ECO button does not make the car front wheel drive. It simply remaps the throttle pedal and tries to reduce the intervention of the ICE (petrol engine), it also reduces the efficiency of the heater...

    Traffic Program information via RDS

I'm not sure if this helps but... I listen mainly to DAB radio in the car but the traffic report interruptions come from the FM receiver. Not all FM stations support this function and as an example XFM or Radio X or whatever it's called today suppresses this service. Maybe try a few different FM...

    Disable keyless entry ?

On my version 11 remote I can change this setting. In the words of Mitsi' ' You can easily customize ETACS functions. (ETACS customization used to only be possible with a MMCS equipped car with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's dealers assistance.)'...

    Energy tariffs

I have a dual tariff meter (economy 7) but don't have enough off-peak usage to make this worthwhile even with the PHEV plugged in a night. Some suppliers will let you report both readings but just charge you a single rate. Only a few seem willing to do this. I'm using So Energy which is a well...

    Can't connect ... probably?

ELM 327 is not the best dongle and there are plenty of dodgy Chinese clones of that model in the market place. I see your eBay model is both Chinese and unbranded. That said it might work. Do you have to pair it to you phone via a small button on the dongle when you set it up? I expect the...

    Heating Problems

Coolant filter in the four way valve clogs with scale and is the usual cause of the problem. If you have the patience you can take it out, clean and put back. A Mitsi' garage would normally replace the whole valve assembly but only once they have worked out the cause (won't show up on their MUT3...

    Outlander GX4H 2016 vs 4H 2017

Hi there. The 2017 comes with the EV button which is handy if all your journeys are in EV range and you're a bit lead footed. However hit ECO and keep the power gauge in the green zone and you won't start the ICE. I'm not sure the 2017 has Apple/Google Carplay function, my 2017 didn't, I think...

Sounds from mobile phone play only on the right speaker

Audio from phone calls can only be heard from the speaker on the opposite side of the car to the driver. This is true in both left and right hand drive cars.

Best driving modes for best efficiency?

Putting the car in Eco remaps the accelerator pedal to help keep you out of the ICE cut in point. At full throttle it has the same output as non-ECO. Depending on MY some of the higher B settings turn on the brake lights when decelerating (B4 & B5 on mine). Using the brake pedal brings in the...

What kind of charging infrastructure is required?

I think your summary is about right for the UK Twosout, at least at the moment. I don't believe any of us truly believe a hybrid vehicle is really the long term solution but merely a step in the right direction. Some (non mainstream) vehicle manufacturers are now producing viable BEVs and this...

New PHEV arrived - EV range question

It's a guessometer Jonathan. It tries to estimate range from historic performance and right now it has little history to work on. This is normal, don't worry. Drive it and see what you actually achieve. Have fun.

    I confess, I'm a smoker.

The round holes are there Greendwarf. One in the dash and one in the armrest box but these are not suitable for a cigarette lighter. The socket designed for this purpose has two sprung latches inside that hold the lighter until it gets hot enough to self eject.
