Well, look forward to meeting again. Whichever EV you go for, I suggest https://www.speakev.com/ as a lively forum. There are sections for most EV brands.
So, after nearly 7 years of driving PHEVs, I am off. Just traded in my MY19 for a used Jaguar i-Pace. Going fully electric at last. Very sad that Mitsubishi is giving up on the UK. I have loved owning my PHEVs and really appreciated the opportunity to get a gentle introduction to the joys of...
I just feel sorry for all the people at Colt Cars and the dealerships who have worked so hard to make the PHEV a success in the UK. My local dealers in Duxford have been great and the servicing guys are especially good. Such a slap in the face for them. I hope that they pick up another franchise...
If you are really worried about the battery then why not go for a 2016 model? They often have a 8 year battery warranty. Here is a quote from a UK outlet: "The traction battery on the Outlander PHEV comes with a warranty of 8 Years / 100,000 miles.
This includes a guarantee that if the traction...
"I heard people mention about checking battery performance?"
Yes people worry about that but I believe all UK cars have a very good battery performance guarantee so you can get a replacement if it falls below a certain level. See here...
Well it has put itself in charge mode so I assume the engine will run until the main battery is fully charged. I doubt that will take 15l though so I wonder what will happen then?
Anybody know how long you can go after getting the message before refilling? Avoiding unnecessary journeys at the moment so will take a while to use up 15l of fuel. There is nothing in the manual about any deadline once the car puts itself in charge mode.
When picking up that car check that you are given the wireless password. It's a real pain if you don't get it.
Also check that the tyre repair kit and electric pump are present in the well under the boot floor (you will need to lift it up completely).
You should get a wheel lock nut. And the...
I thought the car only ran in parallel mode (ICE+electric) at high speeds. At lower speeds the ICE is charging the battery, not driving the wheels, so I am not sure you can compare the longevity of the PHEV to a standard petrol-driven car directly in that way.
Highest figure on the guessometer was 40 miles last summer but since it dropped by about 5 miles in the first 100m that tells you all you need to know about the accuracy of the calculation. ;)
In my experience there is little difference in EV range. The 2.4 feels more powerful but the main difference is that it feels better built. I think that a lot of teething problems in the production process must have been ironed out.
