Engine Oil Fuel Dilution Problem Is Back

Fwiw, here is a comparison video of the various synthetic motor oils, spoiler alert, Mobil 1 did not do so good. Amsoil, Redline, and Pennzoil ranked highest: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TWuKvnCq1js&t=1s

    calling on 2019 owners

One source shows HEV's with 256,000 km/160,000 miles do have significant battery degradation, but little effect in overall fuel efficiency, indicating that HEV's don't use much of the battery capacity to begin with...

    Range is only 15miles!

The in-dash guessometer is both inaccurate and variable (depending on driving history), in fact, there has been a recent TSB (technical service bulletin) to address the inaccuracy: Reference: TSB-19-55-005 | https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10169005-9999.pdf To get a more accurate...

Battery degradation - real versus BMU-real?

You're only 23% down on the USA advertised brand new range of 22 miles or 35 km after 6 years, which is about 4% loss every year. Assuming this loss is linear, in another 6 years, your electric range will be 20 km (I will be curious if the loss is linear). For whatever reason (eg. outdated NEDC...

Battery degradation - real versus BMU-real?

I'm wondering if this is the steady-state point that the BMU is targeting? In USA advertising (under "range": https://www.mitsubishicars.com/outlander-phev/2020#meet-the-phev) it shows only 22 miles of range, or 35 km, which is around where you're at. Is it accurate to say that BMU "degradation"...

Engine Oil Fuel Dilution Problem Is Back

Fwiw, in the BMW community, one of the most respected oil brands is Redline, which is a PAO synthetic (as are Elf/Total and LubroMoly, among others). I realize oil brands is a never-ending debate, and not to lose sight of the OP's point when everything is said and done, oil analysis is really...

    Cross bars ?

If you go to Yakima's "roof rack systems", it says the Railbar system wont fit. I guess that answers my question. That matches what Thule says too, as their site says the Thule Aeroblade Edge for the Outlander must be mounted on towers versus directly on the roof rails. Both their products seem...

    calling on 2019 owners

That is much different than the USA. Here, they advertise only 22 miles of electric range, or 35 km, although the USA is still on the 12 kwh battery (versus the rest-of-the-world's 13.8): https://www.mitsubishicars.com/outlander-phev/2020#meet-the-phev (it's possible they are anticipating the...

    calling on 2019 owners

First of all, I sympathize with your disappointment. I completely understand expectations of a slow and gradual decline in battery capacity and range. That being said, a big part of the problem is just that: expectation. Unrealistic ones. Because there's two big factors explaining why Mitsubishi...

    Cross bars ?

I agree about the OEM crossbars, aesthetically they look too high, I am wondering if this is intentional to mitigate wind noise or to accommodate larger fasteners? Anyway, there is a flush crossbar from Yakima called Railbar (https://www.yakima.com/railbar), but this might not have enough...

New front brake discs and pads

According to this recall information on the Outlander (non PHEV), it mentions the OEM brake component supplier is Akebono, so good chance that the PHEV brake components are the same supplier: https://www.motorsafety.org/category/mitsubishi-recalls Other reference...

Battery degradation - real versus BMU-real?

I know some people have been monitoring the battery degradation issue closely with Watchdog and performing various DIY BMU resets. I know the BMU is aggressively lowering SOH and that electric range gets smaller and smaller. And I know Mitsubishi has been reluctant to address this. What is not...

Wobbly driver seat in MY2020 Outlander

There was a TSB (technical service bulletin) issued in October 2019 about this: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10167801-9999.pdf TSB-19-52A-004 This is a revision from a 2017 TSB, they have revised seat parts, your dealer should repair this if you complain about it, feel free to...

Wobbly driver seat in MY2020 Outlander

May I ask, do you have manual seat adjustments, or power electric seats? All phev's sold in USA are power electric seats, so curious if this could affect the ones here. I had a 2003 Toyota 4Runner that had the same problem with the forward/back movement, it was a manual adjustment.

Anyone purchase MY2019 SEL PHEV? If so, can you please help

Been tracking prices of MY2019 SEL closely for the past months, and Gladstone Mitsubishi in Portland Oregon just lowered their prices on most of their SEL stock, the lowest at $29,999, an over $8,000 discount over retail (MSRP $38,025). These are some of the steepest discounts I've seen in a...
