Just about to take delivery of our GX4H and was wondering whether the MMCS will play FLAC files off SD card or USB stick? Has anyone tried?

Thanks

So no FLAC then - saying that I did read somewhere that it played WAV files too which wouldn't be so bad as they would have the sound quality of FLAC but they don't support the meta data like flac and take up twice the space as they are uncompressed although still lossless like FLAC.

Thanks for the info from the guide.

Well we now have the car and can confirm that the MMCS does not recognise FLAC files but it does read/play WAV files of an SD stick. So it is quite an easy job to convert some music for the car from the FLAC files stored on our server into WAV files. It does have two downsides over FLAC in that the FLAC files although still lossless are about half the size of the WAV files and the WAV files don't support metadata e.g. artist name. Still the sound quality is much better than MP3. The alternate is to Bluetooth the music across from my phone but the MMCS is controllable while driving which is much easier.
