I am interested in buying a used Outlander PHEV.
Most have driven about 80.000 to 180.000 kilometers.

Is it safe to buy a more "experienced" Outlander PHEV or should I avoid them?

My Toyota Prius generation 2 is still going strong after 250.000 kilometers

My PHEV has 127.000km now

Battery condition is 94% or 35.6Ah ...

Interior are looking good ... car drive fine as a new one ... I got mine 6000km ago or 9 months ago ... no problem so far.

For what I know the Outlander PHEV design has been focusing on "reliability" ... yes they put innovation technology on this car ... but they have been very conservative on "durability" in each decision.

Also ... following this forum since a while and people that did report an issue with their PHEV are very "rare" ...

Since the PHEV's mechanicals are pretty simple (no gear changing or conventional clutch required) and the rest are from well proven bits in the electric power systems etc.

The well-proven electric motors give smooth torque which should help with overall transmission longevity. The petrol engine is a down-graded unit and runs at relatively low revs and power.

IMO the PHEV could well be more reliable than its ICE counterparts.
