Some type 1 connectors (car side) have a little hole in the button that you must press to unlock the connector. Where they do, you can put a small padlock through the hole, making it impossible to push the button.

ahh right, I've seen those. Then one I ordered doesn't have that. I guess I'll have to tie a knot around the wheel and lock it. Too bad the car the doesn't lock it into place. Didn't think about this when deciding on what car to get.

I simply wouldn't do that intentionally, especially not on hard ground like asphalt or concrete at the charging station.

Cut through one; it will have plaited metal mesh under the first insulating layer, just like ground cable.
