In my opinion the SatNav is useless, I use Waze on my phone instead.

Me too. Good guesstimate of arrival time, traffic warnings.

As I understand (probably incorrectly) traffic input requires either a mobile data signal (which the MMCS isn't equipped for, though it could get it through an attached phone) or radio data in the form of DAB (possibly RDS on FM, but I don't think so). Are either of these available in Ontario?

I'm not sure what is available these days.
But the radio has no SatNav anyway, so traffic info would not be used (if it's available?)

I'm impressed with the radio, it has a feature called HD-radio and allows you to tune in on side bands of the normal channel, to give you digital radio.
Great sound quality, which is nice now the car is so quiet. (Have not heard the engine roar in the first 600 km, then again I have not floored it either.)
