Here in Maryland I find the following benefits are available for buying my 2018 Outlander PHEV:
$5836 Federal tax credit
$1200 Maryland sales tax rebate
Maryland 40% rebate on charger and installation
Access to HOV lanes with one person in the vehicle
On the federal tax credit: Does anyone know what paperwork gets filed when? My tax guy is unfamiliar. It appears I have to wait until next year when I file for 2018. I just hate to wait because these programs sunset, and congress can change the rules at any time.
On the state sales tax refund - I mailed in the form today - anyone know if you get a check back, or credit on your 2017 taxes or what?
Apparently the 40% refund on charger has a limit on cash available, so you need to apply early each year before they run out of money. Has anyone done this? I bought a level 2 charger for $175, but I am waiting to get a weatherproof box installed to store it and protect the outlet for it since the 40% rebate covers cost of charger plus installation up to $750, but only for ONE charger.
As for the HOV lane access - it seems like the program expires in September, 2018 - so the sticker you get will expire then. Is anyone aware of this being extended beyond this September? I rarely drive where there are HOV lanes, so not sure it's worth the postage stamp to get this.
