I have just returned from a holiday (vacation) in France and saw a number of PHEV's from the Netherlands. Had a chat withy one guy who had also towed his caravan from the Netherlands and I noticed his bumper protection strip was a "proper" one stretching from the length of the bumper whereas mine supplied by the dealer as part of the UK projection pack which includes mud flaps, door sill protection and bumper protection but cheap looking, not sure if it is metal or not. Whilst it offers some protection to the rear bumper it is not quite what I had in mind when I ordered it.

I find it odd that cars in the Netherlands get the different , the "right" kit and in the UK we or I haven't. Anyone else in the UK also ordered the protection pack? When doing some research came across some interesting links. The Australians seem to have every option going for the car, see here, http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/vehicles/outlander/accessories

and for those in the UK came across this website, they do seem to offer the same options as fitted by my dealer and therefore answer the question are they genuine Mitsubishi, will at least for the UK they are but I like the look of the Australian kit better. Do any of our forum members from other European countries have websites with options we can compare what they offer and for what price?

The UK site I came across is here

Hi,
Yes i have the same protection pack as yourself.

And i was as unimpressed as yourself.
If i had known what they were like i would have bought some from ebay and put them on myself. (of a better quality and protection)

It's bizarre isn't it? The only reason I can come up with is that perhaps the local Mitsubishi business entities have some control over the 'original' accessories on offer in each market.

Back in the days of the 'buy British' campaigns, when Toyota, Honda etc. first set up their factories here I recall there being some sort of policy whereby the manufacturers had to source a certain proportion of their parts locally. Maybe we are still victims of something like that :?:

It's probably worth waiting for the 'aftermarket' options to start appearing on the well known auction site.....that's assuming they aren't there already of course ;)

I've got the protection pack but it is too thin to protect the bumper when my dog is trying to jump in.

The accessories do seem poor.

try and get the Continental European one - it is far better than the UK version.

Just ordered these -

Not the cheapest but look like they'll actually do the job.
Will report when fitted.

Yes thanks

That is a lot of money though...

That looks just like what I'm after, very similar to the. Mitsubishi Australia bumper protector.

Does anyone know how easy these are to remove? I am leasing my PHEV so might have to remove this when I return it in 3 years time.

Spirit / panel wipe from a body shop supplier will dissolve the glue and not your bumper

You would need to soak it for a while then pull the thing off. Also a hot air gun would do it.

I would wager this addition wouldn't get noticed at the de fleet centre
