Fitted these today bought from eBay cheaper than original and in my view look good especially on white

Got super glue at home?
Join the ends of the rubber seal with super glue, if you do it right, you'll hardly be able to see the joint afterwards.
You know, there where you can see the gap on your picture, right above your sweet new protector...

Yes Kim I was thinking that, not sure if the gap is like that for everyone not the best design.
 
Sorry for one more tip if you like to close that gap using super glue (maybe you don't need any advice).
If you can pull it out a little, do so, so that you can handle the joints with a little more "freedom".
And you get the best results, when you heat up the ends with a hairdryer. Don't be shy, heat them up pretty good and the glue will work more excellent when applied and joined. Esp. during that time of year, given you don't live in Australia ;)
