The USB not charging is more annoying to me - as this would be a likely day-to-day use (rather than the odd bit of flooding). Seems bonkers that they provide a USB port that doesn't have the capability to charge. Are they worried about this transfer of power hitting the EV range?!?!?

R.
I had not heard about the USB before. I am hoping to plug in a USB memory stick containing my music and then play it through the stereo, is this going to be possible?

Yes this is what it is for or to transfer your address book from your mobile to the PHEV if you do not have/ want to use bluetooth. But it will not charge your phone (well its not charging mine anyway).

Wading depth is here (need to open up the section for weights/volumes):

http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/outlander/specifications.aspx

cityboyblue & rjs104 are right though - 1m wading depth is the territory of 'proper' offroaders and even then only with specialist kit added.

Frankly I'd be quite happy with 400mm wading depth, it's the suggestion that any flooded road is a no go that concerns me a little. These vids on youtube - do they look like stock cars wading? I posted up the rally clip but that's no comfort to me as all rally cars are prepped specifically for the expected conditions.

We have various phones here, when I'm not covered in paint I'll try some out and see if any work. :geek: Will also try and measure the floor length rjs :)

Thanks for that Maddog. I think this is one I will have to take up with my dealer and see which is correct - the manual which says no flooded road or the web site which allows some wading. I will get back once I figure it out.

Hmm.. Curious.

Hopefully Maddogs can shed some light as he has a range of phones to try.

I had a quick look on that Fuse website, and whilst it doesn't seem to have a PHEV as an option I think it's the same system as in the 2014 Outlander.

Some android devices seem to allow charging, others not - the Samsung S1 Mini for instance doesn't. I don't really know Android devices - which one do you have?

If I've posted an image correctly, above should show a pic I found of a PHEV wading (ish!) through water - there is a front view at this website too.

Can you please let me know which web site this is from

Let us know Apyds how you get on - be interested to hear their point-of-view on this :)

Cheers,

Richard.

Sony Xperia Z2

Ref. phones:

iPhone 4s charges fine.
Samsung Galaxy s1 or 2 (can't remember which it is) charges fine.
Motorola something or other doesn't charge.

Will also be interested to hear what you get back about the wading apyds :)

6 days use now (although it hasn't moved today) - 150 miles covered, no petrol used and charge cost so far £7.92

But note that it has skidplates and probably underbody protection.

I think those are purely cosmetic, they are available on the us mitsubishi site as an extra for the conventional outlander and are just bumper trims.

There is a link to the front one here:

Thanks Maddog. Obviously then a problem with my phone. Odd :?

Anyway, I have emailed my dealer and will let everyone know the outcome.

Well my dealer says I should go with the brochure and web site and up to 400mm of wading is fine. They can be sure they will be doing any repairs for free if I wade up to 400 mm and there is a problem with my car.

I'll ask my chap as well when he delivers mine back here later - they've got the car to fit some bits and pieces. Really need a 'thumbs up' smilie (in case anyone with any influence is reading!).

Got a reply from Mitsubishi Motors UK regards the wading issue:

"I can confirm that the wading depth limit for the Outlander PHEV is 400 mm. As you have noted the Owner’s manual warns against driving on flooded roads, this is because the flooding could be deeper than 400 mm in places and this could lead to a longer immersion time."

Fair enough :D

Took mine over yesterday - titanium grey. Drives easy and silent as on the test drive.
Handling, especially in the city and urban, is fantastic for such a heavy SUV ... my wife won't have any problems.
Daily trip to work and back home consumed half of the battery capacity as expected and I achieved 4 leafs on the first 70 kilometers ;-) (makes me a bit proud, lol)....as I had to check if the ICE was correctly built in. Guess I will not see a fuel station for the next couple of weeks.
The silence is really impressive (even if the ICE running).
To work myself through all the setting opportunities and the app abilities I will use the next (rainy) Sunday; the MMCI is definitely not equipped with the fasted processor on earth but finally once the settings are done I don`t care anymore. Maybe Mitsubishi should simply integrate an iPad into the dashboard in the future.

Now I'm a happy phevy ...

Oh, forget to mention: the regen function works perfect. I have been used to this from my e-bike ("-" increases, "+" decreases regeneration level and braking power) .... so this is perfectly similar.

Yeah for the frost white color. All of my future electric cars will be some kind of white with a light interior to help keep the battery and me cool.

All, I connected my HTC 1 M8 (who thinks of these names?!) and it charged just fine.

USB is supposedly a standard, and the great thing about standards is, every manufacturer has one...!

I remember reading somewhere else that iPhone chargers deliver more current than others, and can recall people being unable to charge their iPhones with 3rd party chargers for that reason, so that could be why they're not charging from the USB socket in the PHEV. It sounds like the sort of trick Apple would pull to force you to buy a £30 charger from them instead of a £5 charger from someone else!

Cheers, Phil.

Here it is - picked up our blue one this afternoon. Now charging ready to pick up the kids...
Already used some petrol as had a 30 mile motorway drive back from the dealership, but never mind, I did all the normal roads on ev - very satisfying! The satnav woman was a bit scary but worked out how to turn her down and stop her diverting me away from our local toll bridge! Now realised the dealer hasn't included the protection pack, so will have to sort that out (emailed him as soon as I got home!). Our car was the third out of the Leeds dealership. He has now told me there are no more blue ones till Jan, and no more cars till Nov.

Well, here it would be if I could work out how to get a photo from the iPad onto this message - copying and pasting doesn't work... never mind.
