MMCS upgrade

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of changing the MMCS for a better model such as the pioneer models with CarPlay and google maps? Can I keep the use of the steering wheel buttons with third party equipment?

Would I loose the dashboard directions with third party sat nav?
