i buy quite a few items from aliexpress.
mostly good experiences, but also some bad experiences.
Especially when you get something faulty (tracked package to mail back to china is about £40!)
Faulty items are fit for the bin rather than sending back.
Would I trust a charger from china on a £30k...
I dont mean this to be sound harsh, (it reads harsh to me!)
But my guess is you went for the PHEV because of the 5% BIK
With the amount of mileage you do, IMO the PHEV isnt for you.
There is a thread where we had this discussion about people only going to opt for the PHEV because of the 5%...
Yes, that is an excellent deal.
From the prices I have been given for business lease, you are saving about 20-25% monthly + no deposit & getting free insurance!
Mitsi L200 2.8
£100 ish to fill it & used to get around 300 miles a tank.
Most of my travel is business travel, so makes sense for me to get as many miles as cheaply as possible.
Just deciding when to go for a Phev, before Christmas, or wait until March
Thats a crazy amount!
Ive worked at places & anyone doing that sort of personal mileage would not be allowed to have private fuel use, let alone a petrol car! (there again, they would not get a choice on what to drive either)
I remember one guy used to moonlight using his company car as an...
have you asked about switching from company paid for fuel, to paying for the all the fuel yourself & getting paid the advisory rate of 16p per business mile?
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cars/advisory_fuel_current.htm
Unless you do a lot of personal mileage, i have never found the private mileage tax...
have you changed the wifi name of your car?
think someone else was having issues & it was because they changed the ssid name of the car, rather than default.
buying.. 100% tax write off in the first year
5% bik
zero car tax (how much is road tax for a similar sized car?)
business pays you 16p per legitimate business mile
IF you can recharge at your place of work.. (ie so your not paying for the electric)
then free motoring :oD
Since you commute to & from work as non business mileage why not agree with your boss to charge the car at work as well as home?
If your charging at home only, you are losing most of the electric mileage just on the commute, which you can't claim for anyway.
20 miles commute is not leaving much...
but you would pay tax on that bonus.
My rough calcs was about £10 a week.
Maybe a good agreement with your boss is to opt out of personal mileage expense, in return of you paying to charge the vehicle each night.
HMRC may not like it though.
