Automatic Tailgate / Boot Stopped Working

I have this problem now for the last week or so. The boot won't open automatically; either using the button in the car or the button on the key fob. I just get a 'beep beep beep' with nothing else.

Any ideas anybody?

Did you push the little button next to the key slot accidentally? Also note that the system will not operate unless the car is stationary in "P" or switched off.

Can you explain a little more about this 'button next to key slot' please? I'm hoping it can just be a simple user error like this.

Look at the recessed panel in the lower middle where the key slot and power outlet are. There is a little button that controls the tailgate operation.
