EV Mode Issue

Hi, I have just brought a 2019 PHEV.
When I press the EV button it does not automatically turn into EV mode and knock off the petrol motor off.
Is this normal? I was just assuming when I pressed the button the engine would turn off.

It would depend on why the engine is running.

If the car is in 'Charge' mode, I'd not expect the EV button to over-rule that.

Similarly, if the engine is running to force you to add fuel, then that's something that the EV button should ignore.

The function of the EV button (as far as this forum understands so far) is to:

1) Remap the accelerator pedal, so that the engine start occurs further down the pedal's travel; and,
2) Reduce the aggressiveness of cooling done by the air-conditioner.

Note that (1) can be interpreted as reducing the 'priority/frequency' of engine start.

Like AndyInOz have said... why is your engine on?
EV button won't directly shut the engine off, once the engine is on it has to finish its warm-up cycle at least.
