Well that "fix" didn't fix after all.
Definite fix was:
The "gear lever" wasn't always springing back to it's rest position after selecting Forwards.
So whenever the car starts beeping I give the knob a gentle nudge and it springs back on it's own.
Is there some lubrication required ?
