Remote tailgate operation

1st post so be gentle with me !!
I don't seem to be able to open the tailgate from the keyfob. Otherwise locking etc works ok.
The tailgate opens automatically ok when I press the button on the tailgate itself.
Its a 2016 GX4H.
Anyone had similar problems ?
Am I missing something ?

The remote tailgate is a bit of a law unto itself! To operate from the key fob the car needs to be unlocked and you need to double click the tailgate button. The bit that took me longer to get to grips with was the button in the car, but have now realised that the car needs to be parked with the park button depressed for it to work - unless anyone knows different!
