first long trip - UK to Sardinia and back

We took a very fully laden phev down to Sardinia from the UK for a windsurfing championship - board plus a quiverack (long roof box) on the roof, plus loads of kit inside too. I wasn't sure what to expect on such a long trip, but the car was an utter joy. Didn't have any opportunities to...

european road trip - is it worth charging?

In the autumn we're driving from the UK to Sardinia for a windsurfing event. Is it worth trying to charge at motorway services on the way, or would it require such a plethora of cards that it would be a pain to plan? Is there much free charging on the continent? I'd only be looking to charge...

    Southampton Airport

A bit of a long shot I'm sure, but has anyone used the charging points at Southampton Airport? I can't find many specifics on line. Is it in the short stay car park? Ta

can i listen to the radio whilst charging?

When I press the car 'on' button charging stops. Is there a way to turn the radio on (4hs) with the car off?

    Great car for towing!

Very impressed towing a rib behind the phev this morning. Eerily quiet, even when the engine was running, and plenty of power. I had the battery at 75% in save, and cruising at 60mph using the ACC I was getting just over 25mpg. I'm sure I could get better economy without the cruise control...

    Chargepoint Genie?

Does anyone have any experience with this charging provider? It looks like my employers are looking at installing charge point genie chargers. From what I've seen online these are payg and cost somewhere in the region of £6 a charge, which is pointless for a phev as petrol is cheaper. I just...

can you register for charging without a car reg?

I'm getting impatient waiting for my car so I thought I'd be proactive and register for an ecotricity card now, but the form asks for the car reg - which I don't have yet? Do you need the reg to register for all providers? I'm going for polar and pod-point too. Ta

    Roof Bar Options?

I've never used the 'flush' roof rails before so have no idea how they work. How quick is it to fit and remove the roof bars? Are some manufacturers 'foot' kits easier/harder than others? I will use the roof regularly to transport windsurfing kit, but don't want the bars permanently fitted if...

    just ordered mine :-)

I've just placed my order with Zenith leasing for a GX4hs in grey. They're quoting 13 weeks lead time. How does that compare to others?

Does anyone have experience of setting up workplace charging

Work have apparently said that the cost/benefit for installing charging units does not stack up. Does anyone here have experience of getting units installed at work in the UK? Are there grants available? Can you install payg units? I think work are worried about giving away free...

    Test drive day 2

Mpg was the big test today. I've decided to do my budgeting based on very rarely charging. My concern was that if I budgeted based on EV everywhere, every time I couldn't be arsed to charge up round the corner from work it would cost me money. This way, every time I do charge I earn money...

    Test drive day 1

I've got a shiny white gx4hs on a 3 day test drive. We've just been out for a short family drive to get everyone's feedback, but I've left the manual at work so can't answer our basic questions. Is there lumbar adjustment for the driver and passenger seats? Has anyone else felt it in their...

    Charging etiquette?

Is there such a thing? If I plugged in at my local shopping centre from 0730 to 1200, 3 days a week, would that be taking the p*ss? I think that have13A and 32A sockets. Every time I've looked at the charging points they seem to be empty.

Is the PHEV the right car for me?

I'm about to order a company car through a 'green' lease scheme. I was going to go for a Passat estate, but I can get a GX4hs for about £30 a month less. My daily drive to/from work is 32 miles. Charging at home won't be easy as I don't have off road parking, so would only be able to do it if...
